Mr. Cheong is a Consultant ENT and Specialist Sleep Surgeon at the internationally renowned Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is currently the only Consultant ENT surgeon in London and the UK with a full-time NHS practice dedicated exclusively to the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea.
An award-winning surgeon, Mr. Cheong has been recognised by leading institutions including the Royal Society of Medicine, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and the British Rhinological Society. His specialist training was undertaken at some of the UK's most prestigious hospitals, including the Royal Marsden Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and the Royal London Hospital.
He has pioneered several advances in sleep surgery in the United Kingdom, including performing the first Genio Nyxoah hypoglossal nerve stimulator implantation and the first Inspire hypoglossal nerve implant in a female patient with obstructive sleep apnoea. His work has been featured in major international media outlets including the BBC, Sky News, The Guardian, and The Times.
Mr. Cheong is the Founder and Director of the United Kingdom’s first ENT-UK accredited International Sleep Surgery Course. He is also the first surgeon in the UK to have completed the prestigious Royal Society of Medicine Ellison-Cliffe Travelling Fellowship at Stanford University’s Sleep Medicine Division and the Dowager Countess Eleanor Peel Trust Fellowship at the Asia Sleep Surgery Centre in Singapore.
With over 40 international and national academic presentations and publications in leading journals such as The Lancet and JAMA, Mr. Cheong is an internationally recognised authority in sleep surgery. He is frequently invited to deliver keynote lectures at major scientific meetings and has served in several leadership roles within national ENT societies.
